Princess of Thieves

(1993)
A novel by

Saranda Sherwin is a silver-haired con artist about to marry into one of New York's prominent newspaper families, the Van Slykes. Mace Blackwood is editor of the Van Slyke newspaper under the name "Archer" and is also a con artist. Family tragedies and current events make them enemies, yet neither can stay away from each other. When Saranda is framed for the murder of her new husband, Mace stumbles onto the evidence to clear her name. But first he must track her down in Dodge City, where Saranda has fled to seek shelter with an old friend--Bat Masterson. With Pinkerton agents and bounty hunters on their trail, Mace and Saranda make their way back to New York, where they plan to expose the real murderer and reclaim the Van Slyke newspaper. One of their pursuers is Lance Blackwood, Mace's brother and a troublesome presence in Saranda's past. Mace must choose between his love for his brother, whom he has protected all his life, and his love for Saranda. Good romance; not much of a western.

Captivated by the enchanting beauty of forbidden temptress Saranda Sherwin, con artist Mace Blackwood risks everything to help her when her latest romantic charade turns tragic and she flees for her life.
