After a long absence, cartoonist Molly Masters returns to house-sit her childhood home in a small suburb of Albany, New York. Soon after her arrival, she receives a disturbing letter from Mrs. Kravett, her least-favorite high school teacher, who dies before Molly can contact her. Then Molly receives faxed threats, blaming her for Mrs. Kravett's death. The person sending those threats seems to know all about the scandal that drove Molly out of town so many years ago. To make matters worse, Molly is alone with her two endearing but quirky young children while her husband is on an extended work assignment in the Philippines. Who is responsible? The class hunk, now school principal? The class brain, now inept PTA treasurer? The prom queen turned town socialite? Can the responding officer, once the runt of the class, handle this case? Before Molly can find out, an attempt is made on her life, and a friend's spouse is stabbed with Molly's kitchen knife. Molly realizes she must discover who is rattling the skeletons in her closet before she winds up one herself.
