At twelve years of age, Serenity Williams’ parents were killed in the burning of Atlanta in 1864 during the American Civil War. So, she was sent to live with her cousin in Denver, Colorado, to be educated at the best finishing school with the express purpose of becoming a proper young lady. Eight years later, she was tired of having to always be prim and proper and was ready for adventure in the West. So, she answers an advertisement in a Hearts and Hands magazine for a mail-order bride to a rancher, that reads simply: Rancher seeks a wife and mother for his children. With the trains down due to inclement weather, Serenity buys a sleigh and sets off for adventure in the Wild West.

Rancher Richard Byer needs a wife. After the death of his wife the year before left him alone with his six children, he’s at his wits end. Finding it difficult to run his ranch and care for his small children, Richard takes out an ad for a mail-order bride. God help the woman who answers it. He couldn’t choose just anyone. His new bride must be well acquainted with children and have the patience of Job. Without a mother, and with him working from sun up to sun down, his six children have gone wild. His daughters were wearing pants, and wrestling the boys at school, and the boys were fighting and gambling. If he didn’t do something soon, he fears he’ll lose his family.

When Richard discovers that his new bride’s name if Serenity, he hopes her demeanor holds true to her name… because she’s going to need all the serenity she can get.

With the Christmas season quickly approaching, can Serenity and Richard learn to work together as a team for the good of their new family, or are they doomed from the start?

At the most wonderful time of the year, journey to the wilds of 1870s Wyoming as Serenity and Richard discover that family is not always born; it’s also made.
