Jill Quint, MD, forensic pathologist and vintner, arrives in Dallas for a grape grower's conference when she runs into an old friend. The friend is shaken as she has just seen her co-presenter die while delivering a presentation. Public speaking was bad enough but what could kill a young woman so quickly? The victim's husband, Adam, hires Jill to help him find answers to his wife's death. He's convinced that Stacy's connection to the Sinaloa Drug Cartel is the cause of her death. Stacy was related to a high ranking member of the cartel family but had changed her identity to escape the cartel life, eventually becoming a nurse. Jill discovers the poison and Adam ends her services, stating he'll let the police department finish the case. Detective Castillo has never taken the husband off his number one suspect list and hires Jill as a consultant. Her investigative skills notwithstanding, Castillo's convinced if he hires Jill, she'll become a target for the real killer, and she does... .
