A queen still learning to wear her crown. A king determined to protect her from everything — even the truth. Book 5 in the Mer Tales series. Perfect for fans of Anna Banks, Tera Lynn Childs, and Sarah Porter.
They survived the wedding. They didn't survive what came after.
Ash has a husband, a crown, and a son who's growing faster than she can keep up with — and some days, all three feel like more than she signed up for. Between council sessions she never wanted and a cottage that's never quiet, she's still trying to figure out who she is now that "Ash from Tahoe" isn't the whole story anymore.
Then something happens that Fin doesn't tell her about.
It's a small thing, one more secret in a marriage built on protecting each other from the worst of it — until a delegation arrives from a distant colony with impossible timing, led by a stateswoman whose warmth doesn't quite reach her eyes, and a man whose history with Fin runs deeper than he's let Ash know. Ash's instincts are screaming that something is wrong. Nobody's listening. Not even Fin.
As the crown Ash never wanted becomes the only thing standing between her family and a threat she can't yet name, she and Fin will have to answer the question their wedding never made them face: what happens when protecting each other starts to look a lot like not trusting each other at all.
EVERSTORM continues the Mer Tales series with political intrigue, a marriage under pressure, hidden allegiances, a queen finding her voice, and a danger that was closer than anyone realized.
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
