Gruffudd is the young heir to Powys, a proud and ancient Welsh house. When his father is defeated by the lord of Gwynedd, Llywelyn the Great, Gruffudd and his family are driven from their home. They take refuge in England, where Gruffudd swears vengeance on Llywelyn and all his kin.
