Bitter Bones is Holly Blacks DOLL BONES meets J.A White’s NIGHTBOOKS, with all the fun and creep of K.A. Alexander.

Thirteen-year-old Casey has always known two things deep down in his marrow:

1. He was born with a disorder that gave him too many bones

2. His mother was absolutely not killed by her dolls.

His mom, Genevieve, was an infamous toy maker. She disappeared eight years ago amid outlandish rumors of foul play, hauntings, and creations come to life. But Clay knows that’s just an outlandish spin on a much more ordinary story. He was born with a disorder which gave him too many bones and he is in constant pain. His doctor bills were adding up. So, she abandoned him. He can’t help but hope that she will come back home.

Clay’s hope grows when he gets a cryptic cry for help from his mother. He rallies a group of friends to help him track her down and save her. Along the way he exposes a creepy, cult like collectors’ group and encounters a mysterious figure only known as the Button-Eyes Man. All this while struggling with the limits of his own body.

Once he learns his mother didn’t abandon him, he finds it impossible to abandon her. Clay will leave no road untaken even if the road is paved with his bones.
