Crushing on the Goalie
(2025)(The third book in the Southern Sports Sweethearts series)
A novel by M J Padgett
Getting traded by the Denver Dragons wasn’t part of Justin Yate’s plan, but if it helps him forget about the woman he can never have, then so be it.
Goaltending for the Denver Dragons is Justin’s dream, and sharing the crease with Evander Calloway has taught him a lot about the game. But sometimes your dreams go up in smoke, fitting since his entire life has been one big disappointment after another. Growing up poor as dirt, jumping from one foster family to another, didn’t exactly build his confidence.
When the news of his departure spreads, his beloved teammates throw him a going away party he won’t soon forget. After all, how could he forget watching the only woman he’s ever loved pretend like him leaving means nothing to her?
Stefania DeLuca was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, but she’s busted her rear end to become a successful professional soccer player much to her parents’ disappointment. They’d rather she get serious about taking over the family business, a string of professional dance studios, but Stevie has never been one to do what other people expect. Forging her own path has had its pitfalls and disappointments, causing her to guard her heart and pretend she doesn’t do that whole love thing.
But all it takes is one sheepish grin and a dance to turn her world upside down. When she finally meets a man who might break down her walls, she reinforces them. Then he leaves, taking her heart with him.
Left behind with nothing but guilt and disappointment, Stevie leaps at the opportunity to travel to Savannah to search for a new dance studio location for her parents. The only question is, will she finally settle down or will true love trigger this runaway all over again?
Crushing on the Goalie is a sweet, hockey romance with second chances, grand gestures, and a side of comedy!
