The Missionary

(1983)
A Book by

Michael Palin (of Monty Python fame) lends his own subtle brand of humor to this story of an early 20th Century Church of England missionary returning home after spending 10 years in the African wild. He returns ready to marry his fiancee whom he kept in touch with through letters. However he is soon summoned by the Bishop of London who charges him with opening a home mission in London for ''fallen women.'' The events and consequences that follow are touched by Palin's great wit and humor.
