The Italian Wedding

(2009)
A novel by

Pieta Martinelli is a 30-year-old wedding dress designer who is still single. There is great excitement among her family due to her younger sister Adolorata's approaching wedding. Pieta is designing the gown and helping to plan the big day, but this only emphasises her single status and Pieta can sense her family's mounting anxiety that she will never be a wife and mother. There is one family in town who won't be getting an invitation to Adolorata's wedding: the Martinellis have been feuding with the DeMatteos for as long as anyone can remember. Out of loyalty to her family, Pieta tries to avoid the DeMatteo family, although she is constantly bumping into the youngest son, Michele, and she finds it difficult to be unfriendly to him. As the wedding day draws closer and Adolorata comes for her final dress fittings the sisters uncover the real reason for the rift between the families. Adolorata has noticed the chemistry between her sister and Michele DeMatteo, and she is convinced she must do something to bring them together. She hatches a plan to settle the feud once and for all and reunite the two families. But neither the wedding nor the rapprochement really turn out quite as planned...
