The body of an elderly lady has remained undiscovered on moorland for several years, and DS Nina Featherstone is told that identification is impossible. Undeterred, Dr Mills Sanderson calls Brenda Yardley, expert in textile forensics, and together they establish the woman’s name from remnants of her tweed skirt, and with help from the local WI. But that’s just the start of the investigation, because Nina has evidence that she’s still alive. Either they’ve got the wrong woman, or someone has stolen her identity.
