Glass Geishas

Steph, a young English woman, has been lured to hostess bars in Tokyo by tales of easy money for doing nothing more than flirting with drunken businessmen. The reality proves to be nothing like as easy, and when she discovers the diary of another English hostess who has disappeared she finds herself getting into deep waters. As Steph navigates the complex and often hostile world of Tokyo's hostess bars, she is helped by an older woman whom she nicknames Mrs Kimono, and from whom she absorbs much Japanese culture. And parallel to Steph's story runs the amazing life of Mama San, legendary owner of Sinatra's Club, and her experiences of 'the water trade'.
