A honeymoon in the Isles of Scilly. A body before the first morning. And a groom who is the only suspect.
Countess Maeve Morgan has been given no clue where she is going. Robbie refuses to tell her. What she does not expect is a flight the length of Britain in his own aeroplane, a landing on a golf course, and a golf club steward who objects rather strongly to Robbie's choice of runway.
By the middle of the night, the steward is dead. Robbie was seen arguing with him only hours earlier, and the entire Scilly police force, all two of them, can find nobody else worth suspecting.
Maeve does what she always does. She starts asking questions.
But every question is met with silence. The islanders close ranks. The sergeant seems far more delighted to have a famous detective on his patch than troubled by the possibility that her husband is a murderer. Then an anonymous note appears at their cottage, warning them to leave on the first calm sea and never come back.
Robbie has no intention of running.
Maeve has no intention of abandoning him.
