Grief is a small word. Yet it weights your soul down, making it hard to breathe. It coils around your limbs so it can control you, leaving behind just a shell of who you were. Grief is such a tiny word, but I feel it everywhere.

My two children are missing. Gone without a trace. Nothing but the wind and broken hearts are left behind.

Tobias, my husband, has gone through losing a child before. Whiskey and fury begin to blur reality from shattered dreams. Darach, our best friend, does his best to keep peace in the house. I love Tobias with all my heart, but some things are hard to fix. With our children missing, our marriage seems to be falling apart.

While Tobias and I work through our problems, we go to town for the summer rendezvous so we can take a break from life on the mountain. After a tragic state of affairs, mayhem breaks loose in Beaver Bend. The more I look at the shadows, I soon realize that magic does exist.

And so does the devil.
