‘Yeah, it’s the weekend, again,’ I say, dropping under a palm tree and stretching my legs out in front of me. ‘I spent the last week getting my butt handed to me,’ I add, rubbing my neck. Oh, it’s not because I’m feeling sheepish—it’s because the entire group has been trying to pull off Sandra’s ‘planting’ trick without earth powers. I’ve had my head slammed into the sand so many times these past few weeks, I’m not even joking.
Oh, but I should probably introduce myself, shouldn’t I? Even if I’m on Maui’s island right now, I’m still a Cape High student. I swear they go around with a hidden psychic app, checking to make sure we do the mental self-introduction at least once a week. My name is Shane. I’m the son of two of the West Hall’s Foundation members, Pika and Gibby. Dad’s a Maui warrior, Mom’s a werewolf shifter. That makes me a very hairy, and sometimes furry, tank.
Okay, yeah, that’s not going to get me a very good grade, is it? Oh well, I’m barely passing posing class, as it is, so it’s not like that’s a new thing.
