The Guardian of Carron Brae
(2027)(The tenth book in the Highlander: The Legends series)
A novel by Rebecca Ruger
He left Carron Brae because he feared the man he had become. Now he wants nothing more than to return to the woman he left behind.
Richard Wycliffe should have died on a Scottish battlefield.
Wounded and abandoned in enemy country, the English knight was left for dead—until Anabel found him and brought him home. She had little enough to offer a stranger: a roof, a fire, food she could scarcely spare. Yet she gave him all three. She tended his wounds, endured the dark hours when war followed him into his dreams, and slowly gave him something he had thought lost forever.
And Richard repaid her by leaving.
For more than a year, Richard has wandered Scotland beneath another name, telling himself there was nothing waiting for him anywhere. But after fighting beside the Rebel of Lochaber Forest and finally revealing the truth of who he is, Richard can no longer pretend he does not know where he belongs.
He’s going back to Carron Brae. Back to the woman who once dragged a dying Englishman back from the dead, going back to discover whether some wounds can be forgiven—
and whether the woman he left behind has any reason at all to want him back.
Genre: Historical Romance
