Humans do not survive the King’s Hunt. They are not meant to.

Renahlia knows this better than anyone. Bargained away by her mother as a child and bound to a vice broker, Ren has spent years trapped in Faerie, surviving its glittering cruelty with salt beneath her tongue, a blade beneath her sleeve, and grave dirt in her pocket.

Then the gates of the King’s Hunt open.

Each year, Faerie’s six ruling houses open a magical maze to honor the long-dead Seventh Lord. The hedges hunger. Creatures turn flesh to bone. And only those who reach the heart may claim what they desire most. For Ren, that prize is freedom from the Folk.

But the maze is hiding something far more dangerous than death.

Wulfric, of House Oleander, enters the Hunt seeking answers of his own. A reluctant knight with a scholar’s heart, he believes the Hunt holds the key to exposing a conspiracy against the crown. But his brother, Dagmuir, has taken a very different interest in the Hunt, one that wears the shape of a human girl.

With both brothers closing in, Ren finds herself caught in a game where every alliance comes with a price. The deeper she ventures into the maze, the more she suspects the greatest danger may not be what hunts her, but what it is awakening within her. Because in Faerie, inheritance is never a gift, but a damning sentence.
