Five hundred years ago, the Spanish Galleon, San Isadore, made a startling discovery. A stunning Aztec city hidden deep within the jungle, hundreds of miles further north than any other Aztec settlement. At the center of the city was an enormous pyramid. And atop this magnificent structure, an orb that opened a portal through which flowed tons of pure glittering gold. The Conquistadors couldn’t resist. They stole the orb and sailed off, heading north toward California through the Sea of Cortés, never to be seen again . . . Until now.
Because the galleon has been found, rising from the sands of the Sonoran Desert like a ghost. And within its hold, a prize with the power to change the world . . . or destroy it. Because it isn’t just gold that waits beyond the portal, but something dark and ancient. Something hungry.
