Trollinghom periodically sends Magicians into the world to restore and revitalize the ancient devices that are essential to the scattered villages' survival. Three magicians; an old man accompanied by a younger one, dark and mysterious, and a beautiful young woman arrive to befriend a smitten Jacob Torvals who has always yearned to learn their magic.
