The Cruise Ship Cover-Up
(2026)(Book 18 in the Sunset Manor Mystery series)
A novel by Cathlyn Sweets
A seaside holiday, an arrogant tablemate, and a missing widower on the high seas…
Retired headmistress Violet Hartwell and the Sunset Manor Detective Agency are looking forward to a restful Caribbean cruise aboard the Empress of the Waves. But luxury turns to total chaos before they even cross the gangway when former Chief Petty Officer Frank Morrison is stripped of his tactical mobility scooter and demoted to a seafoam-green loaner complete with a dolphin decal and a starfish bell.
Things go from bad to worse at their assigned dinner table. Joined by the pompous, velvet-jacketed antiquities dealer Arthur Blevins and his glamorous companion Marjorie, dinner descends into sharp retorts and clashing personalities. But when Arthur fails to show up for his strictly timed morning eggs Benedict, the agency senses foul play. A sweep of Arthur’s untouched stateroom uncovers a sealed grooming kit, missing identification, and a hidden silver pocket watch linked to a fallen European dynasty—confirming Arthur didn’t just wander off to the soft-serve station.
Faced with a smooth-talking captain desperate to avoid a public relations disaster before reaching Nassau, Violet and her crew launch their own covert operation. Supported by former detective Ray Cromwell, the glamorous Dolores, retired diplomat Viktor, and Frank on his sock-muffled seafoam scooter, the team uncovers a trail of secret midnight meetings and restricted cargo manifests leading straight down to the ship''s bowels.
When Marjorie produces a mysterious brass key marked for Hold 4, the stakes turn deadly personal. Can the Sunset Manor Agency brave the dark companionways, outsmart a high-stakes smuggling syndicate, and track down the missing widower before his time runs out?
Set sail with the Sunset Manor Agency for a hilarious, fast-paced cozy mystery packed with sharp wit, high-seas intrigue, and unforgettable sleuths!
