A cosy mystery perfect for fans of Sally Smith, Steve Higgs, LJ Ross, Robert Thorogood, and Richard Osman.

It’s summer time in Castillo on Spain’s Costa del Sol. Though it’s tourist season and a holiday-like atmosphere infuses everyday life, all is not well. Karen McLaren and her friends in the Jimi Hendrix Supper Club are concerned about the prospect of a corporate takeover of the Club Britannia complex by an enormous corporation - Mountbatten Holdings. They envisage arguments aplenty…

…what they don’t expect is the dramatic death of one of the multinational company’s employees during a residents’ meeting.

The mystery deepens when another one of the conglomerate’s sales representatives dies a short time after. Though the charismatic Baron Grosvenor St. John presents as being the very picture of honesty, Karen and her friends are not convinced. And, as Roy Potter uses his accountancy skills to dig into Mountbatten Holdings’ finances, it seems that things are not quite as they seem.

Ably assisted by her regular group of amateur investigators, Karen throws herself headlong into pursuing the truth. It’s a quest which can only lead to conflict; the company wants to keep its secrets hidden, while Karen is determined to expose them. Juggling the running of The Sylvia Beach Bookshop along with her detective activities, she runs the gauntlet of red herrings and unscrupulous operators to work out what’s gone wrong.

How did a simple retirement plan of fine wine and Spanish sunshine grow so complicated?

Author promise: this cosy mystery does not contain any gore, violence, or profanity. Nor does it contain any scenes of an explicit nature.

Although books featuring Karen McLaren can be read in any order, An Amethyst Ambiguity is the sixth book in the series. If you enjoy cosy mysteries, then this is definitely the book for you!
