Seventeen years ago, eleven-year-old Sang Hae Jin was kidnapped and a ransom demanded. Even after the ransom was paid he was marked for death, like four other South Korean teens from wealthy families—all of whom died at the hands of their kidnappers.
Hae Jin's life was saved—by luck and by the most unusual person imaginable—Ong Rae-Rae, a ten-year-old girl who, on that fateful night, discovered that she'd inherited the abilities of the Lotus—a human with extremely rare gifts.
Now, seventeen years later, Hae Jin is the Captain of the best e-sports team in South Korea—Black Skies. The team has an injured player, however, and the team's owner is looking for a substitute.
Enter Rae-Rae, in disguise and using only a gaming handle for identification. Her official reason for joining the team is to track down a hacking ring that has broken into corporate and government computer systems worldwide.
That reason turns out to be merely the tip of a dangerous iceberg, as the hunt begins for Hae Jin, who can still identify his kidnappers.
And, as Rae-Rae learns all too quickly, anyone who stands in the way of the criminals involved will also have a target painted on their back…
