From April 2014 through February 2016 horror author Devan Sagliani wrote a bimonthly horror column called Dark Dreams. The topics ranged widely, from interviews with horror authors and photographers, to a private tour of Clive Barker's mansion in the Hollywood Hills and more. Nothing was off limits so long as it made you scream.

Devan explained the feud between Bela Legosi and Boris Karloff, introduced readers to original scream queens Linnea Quigley, Michelle Bauer, Brinke Stevens, and paid tribute to HR Giger and the late, great Vincent Price. He also bade a fond farewell to horror legends who passed during his time writing Dark Dreams, including Christopher Lee and Wes Craven. He told readers the best items to avoid being killed in a horror movie, explored the scary world of cursed movies, took the October horror movie challenge, and shared the top 12 scariest Christmas-themed horror movies.

He wrote about notorious serial killers like Richard Ramirez, Ed Gein, and Ted Bundy - in some cases shocking readers with his grisly portrayal of their heinous crimes. He explored horror myths about legendary creatures like Goatman, supernatural monsters like Slenderman and Krampus, and the rise of the worship of Santa Muerte in Mexico, the terrifying Saint of death. He went to horror conventions like Frightmare and Scare L.A. and posted exclusive galleries of the horror cosplay. He even wrote a three-part series on H.P. Lovecraft that stirred up some controversy of its own.

All throughout he had a fantastic time and learned a great deal about the topics he explored. He is sad to see it end. Which is why he decided to put together the articles in this collection, so in some small way Dark Dreams can live on. He included links at the end of each article to the original posts on The Escapist. That way you can check out the images, not to mention some of the colorful comments avid readers left, particularly on Lovecraft. Enjoy!
