Prison spells different things to different individuals. For Stella Dundry it means the farm where she grew up, and she escapes by moving in with her sister in town, and training as a nurse. On the wards, she meets injured skating star Huw Blyth, and a charming and educated gipsy. Her brother-in-law, Lester Hilton, also plays a part in her new life, but she never loses her love of the country, and finds that away from it, there are other bars to enclose her.
