Caged Curves
(2026)(The fourth book in the Mountain Men of Wolfjaw Falls series)
A Story by Julie Scarlet
I burned down a dogfighting ring. They wrapped me up like a present and dumped me at the feet of the man who runs the next one.
He's not what I expected. Tattooed forearms, storm-gray eyes, a grin that's been getting him into trouble since he was old enough to know better. The kind of cocky that should be exhausting and somehow isn't. He's supposed to hold me until the Boss decides what to do with me. Instead he stitched up the gash on my temple, called me a problem, and hasn't handed me over yet.
I'm a size-fourteen vet tech with a smart mouth and a soft spot for the dogs he keeps in cages. He's a man who picks his violence like a scalpel and owes the wrong people for every breath he takes. We shouldn't fit. We sure as hell shouldn't burn this hot in the snow with one sleeping bag between us.
But the Boss owns too many pieces of him.
And the men I crossed don't take prisoners twice.
So which cage breaks first his, or mine?
