Unnatural Treasure

Avenell was a work-a-holic, and she had no idea what happened to her husband. He was there in the morning but when she returned later that night, he was gone – along with his stuff.

One month later she quit her job, sold her stuff and took a job as a personal assistant to the owner of Drifting Treasures.

That was ten years ago…and she still hadn’t caught her breath.

Working for Clalls, consumed almost all of her waking thoughts. He was demanding and impossible to please – and that was before he decided to celebrate his three hundredth birthday party determined to make it the biggest, most notorious celebration that ever was.

When she had a few hours to crash in her room, she either blacked out from exhaustion or spent her precious hours on a conference call with her co-worker going over their joint responsibilities.

They had two weeks to go, and they weren’t even close to having everything in order. Avenell was sure the day of Clalls’s birthday was going to end with her public humiliation or termination, but of course life had a way of ripping her world out from under her.
