The Four Winds: The Regalia of Power
(2026)A novel by Barlow Cece, Christopher Cheng, Chris Eboch and Louise Spiegler
The Four Winds is an epic fantasy told through letters and journal entries. It takes place in a world similar to our own history, but with powerful magic, fallen empires, and constant battles for control.
The story follows four friends: Leila, Kisiah, Pharsalus, and Ah Toy. Years ago, they studied together at the Academy and promised to always stand by each other as the "Four Winds." Now, they are scattered across the world and must protect four legendary magical artifacts known as the Regalia of Power, no matter the cost.
When Leila's mother, the Queen of the Salt City, dies under suspicious circumstances, a ruthless general-magician named Amosis takes over her peaceful desert kingdom. Before he can claim the Regalia, Leila sends the artifacts to her friends for safekeeping.
In the small town of Amesbury, Kisiah receives a magical ring that awakens dangerous powers she never knew she had. Suddenly, she's dealing with mysterious fires, strange visions of the future, and a powerful connection to the artifact.
Meanwhile, Pharsalus is trapped in the ruined city of Le Tourneau after a brutal invasion. Once a student of philosophy, he is now helping survivors hide from enemies while guarding the Regalia's crown.
Far away in Xin Jin Shan, Ah Toy faces prejudice, hardship, and unexplained disasters. He believes Amosis's dark magic may be responsible. Even so, he refuses to give up, protecting the Regalia's staff with the help of a wise dragon.
As their letters cross oceans and continents, the four friends share their fears, hopes, and struggles. Together, they uncover the truth about the Regalia and must decide whether their friendship is strong enough to stop a world from falling apart.
The Four Winds is a story of friendship, loyalty, magic, and adventure. Perfect for readers who enjoy character-driven fantasy, ancient myths, and stories told through letters, it combines high-stakes action with an unforgettable group of young heroes fighting to save their world.
The Four Winds is an epic where friendship, magic, and history collide through the letters of four young heroes. It will appeal to readers who love the mythic tone echoed in The Song of Achilles and the epistolary, archival storytelling of The Hazel Wood.
