Barren Land Showdown

(1951)
(Barren Land Murders)
A novel by

Corporal Millis is the law in the cold, lonsome outpost of Lobstick--and he's in way over his head. At first glance, surly Frank Nearing and Lute Westock, a burly giant of a man, seem to be old friends--a couple of out-of-luck miners. Kelcy McIvor seems forever to be protecting Bruce, her ne'er-do-well of a brother. And Saul seems to be the popular man about town. Now all hell's breaking loose in the usually peaceful little town, and Millis is beginning to realize that all is not what it appears to be. He'll nee all the help he can get to figure out who is responsible for the havoc and murders in Lobstick--but he doesn't know who he can trust.
