After upgrading the Aetherwing with expanded quarters, a new bridge, and the firepower the crew has always wanted, Jace and his team are confronted with the harsh reality of spacefaring life: they need a job.

Their first contract leads them to a mysteriously abandoned research station, but a sudden encounter with an old enemy forces them to flee into the nearest system they can find. Unfortunately, that system is a dead end: a dim star, no planets, and a single drifting starship.

When they board the silent vessel, they discover something strange. The ship has no crew, and its onboard AI has crashed. While investigating the system’s core, Jace suddenly blacks out…

…And he wakes up on a battlefield.

Thrust into a war that isn’t his, surrounded by soldiers he doesn’t know, Jace is forced to fight a battle he cannot win. When he dies, he wakes again, back at the beginning of the same doomed fight.

Again, and again, and
again.

Trapped inside what appears to be a brutal training simulation with no exit, Jace must keep his wits about him long enough to find a way out.

Because if he can’t break the loop, he may never escape it…
