(The fourth book in the Emma Lang series)
A novel by

The local tissue mill is celebrating its 75th Anniversary, and Port Davis is buzzing with excitement! But when the body of the maintenance manager is found, run over by a self-driving fork truck, the festivities come to a screeching halt.

The event caterer, Emma Lang, suddenly finds herself tangled in the chaos. Detective Beltz is on the scene and is beside himself. He fails his mill entry safety training test and is coaxed into following hydraulic oil paw prints left by a mill cat named Fred.

Emma recruits her quirky team and eccentric security guard Zelda (who swears Fred is a reincarnated mill worker) for help. She must navigate small-town secrets. Was this an accident or murder?

In this tight-knit mill community, suspects aren't in short supply. The deceased, Ryan Graves, proposed downsizing the workforce and replacing them with technology. Hank Carlyle, the Union President, was furious about the idea. Safety Supervisor, Sylvia Thompson, argued with Ryan just hours before his death.

When a tissue machine bursts into flames, it becomes clear, someone’s continuing to play a dangerous game. Emma must unravel the truth before another Mill hazard turns deadly.
