Katie Carter is heartbroken and distraught. Life has thrown her the worst of the worst curve balls. Barely even middle-aged, her husband was taken from her by that demon cancer. She’s not sure how’s she’s supposed to go on without him. In the midst of her mourning, though, she comes across an unexpected distraction, an old photo album her long dead father had given her. It’s been decades since she looked inside the album, and this time around she stumbles onto a mystery. It sure seems like her father’s father might not have been who they all thought he was - instead, the pictures of Uncle Leo are a spitting image of the man who raised Katie. The two men are so identical, in fact, that it’s like seeing a ghost.
As Katie’s curiosity about her lineage is ignited, something strange and unexplainable happens – she is suddenly transported back in time to the place where her father grew up, an odd town in Missouri called Broken Rope, a place where it’s rumored that all kinds of ghosts reside. Once there, she can only think she’s supposed to right some wrongs and save some lives while she figures out her grandfather’s true identity.
Even though the journey isn’t smooth and the ghosts of Broken Rope try to assist Katie, hearts are bound to be trampled upon even while others might be repaired. If the truth comes out and lives can be saved, though, Katie thinks it will all be worth it.
Like Seeing a Ghost takes place in the world where Shelton’s Country Cooking School books reside, but this time around some of the series’ main characters play smaller roles.
