Humanity survived the end of the world. Now, we just had to share what was left of it.

Two hundred years ago, disease and natural disasters brought civilisation to its knees. Then they arrived.

Extraterrestrials. They saved us.At least, that’s the version everyone tells.

I’ve never had much reason to question it. I have medical school, a boyfriend, a roommate who tolerates my obsessive need for order, and a father whose memories are disappearing faster than medicine can save them.

My life isn't perfect, but it is mine. Until one night changes everything.

Suddenly, the rules I’ve lived by mean nothing. The future I planned is gone, the people I trusted are keeping secrets, and the creatures humanity welcomed as its salvation are looking at me very differently.

Because there is something inside me.

Something that should not exist.

Something they want.

And the deeper I’m dragged into their world, the more one terrifying truth begins to surface.

Perhaps the aliens never came to save humanity.

Perhaps they were waiting for something.

And perhaps that something is me.
