Welcome to The Spring Kingdoms of Wylding, where shifters practice Earth magick as their land flowers and blooms.
Cerf-Biche is the kingdom of the stags and does. Cian, having defeated the last miserable king, sits his throne in power. Strongest of the stag shifters, capable of wielding untold magick, he doesn’t anticipate any problems until he’s poisoned by the under-baker who holds small dreams. That the lowliest in the kingdom can take him down is nothing short of embarrassing'' but it’s even worse once he has to acknowledge that he’s fallen in love with her. There’s a connection to her that he needs to explore, even if it loses him the throne. And it might.
In a world where strength is the only asset worth having, Ayala has and is nothing. Least of her kind, not even able to shift on her own, her dreams are small: bake something that isn't flavored with vanilla for the king. She never intends to poison him, but then, she has no clue what evil lies within the castle walls, or what stories the gods are choosing to re-enact. All she knows is that her life is now forfeit, and that even the king’s saving of her doesn’t guarantee her safety. And, of course, she knows that she loves him, even if such love is forbidden. Even if such love is reprehensible. Even if such love threatens the stable world Cian has been striving to build.
In this tale of forbidden love, sometimes bravery is the last stand before disaster and success.
Genre: Paranormal Romance
