Superstar

(2011)
A novel by

Carrin dreams of Mark Lord, superstar, falling in love with her, but she could never trust a man who can have any woman he wants - and probably does! Still, she sends him a screenplay and is invited to spend a week as his guest. He's way too nice, but she's not going to be added to his undoubtedly already vast collection of bed post notches. Oh, no, she's got him pegged, and he's not pulling the wool over her eyes.

To add to her dilemma, he appears to be quite down-to-earth and pleasant, when she expected him to be an arrogant bastard. That was part of her plan to meet him, and thereby dispel her romantic fixation. Unfortunately, being in his company has the opposite effect, and only adds to her feelings. Still, Carrin is a strong-willed girl, and is determined not to allow Mark Lord - superstar! - to add her to his undoubtedly already lengthy string of conquests. His apparent humbleness and quiet manner don't fool her - oh, no, she's got him pegged, and he's not pulling the wool over her eyes.

When the gorgeous woman who works for him as - believe it or not - his maid, tries to sabotage her screenplay by deleting the file off her laptop, Carrin is furious, nor does she believe that Helen is just his maid. Yeah, right! Then Mark fires Helen for the incident, which is confusing, but the ex-maid returns to show Carrin the bruises Mark gave her - so he is a monster, and all her opinions are vindicated - or are they? Naturally, he has a leggy supermodel as his girlfriend, so why does he invite Carrin on a date to a Hollywood awards ceremony?

The situation grows more confusing when Mark dumps Jenna in what seems to be a rather cruel manner, and that, too, vindicates her low opinion of him. Meanwhile, however, his best friend, Simon, a Hollywood hunk with more brawn than brains, seems to be keeping secrets and dropping hints - or clangers - but Carrin is determined not to be fooled by any of them. No doubt they're all in cahoots. What will it take to convince her otherwise? A lot, as it turns out, but you'll have to read the book - Superstar.

When Carrin meets her idol, Mark Lord, and he seems to really like her, she's thrilled, but soon she suspects that he has an ulterior motive. Why would he choose a mousy farm girl over beautiful actresses and supermodels? His Oscar-winning acting talents don't fool her - oh, no, she's got him pegged, and he's not adding her to his undoubtedly massive collection of bedpost notches!
