THE GALLANT SAGA BEGINS
They didn't believe young Paul Gallant when he arrived at Cape Breton in the early spring of 1745 with the news of an imminent British invasion launched from Boston. Now, the "Echo" is the last ship afloat in the harbor . . . and the shore has been dyed red with blood. Gallant's orders are straightforward. Run the blockade and get to France -- and help for the beleaguered fortress.
With daring and brilliant maritime skill, Gallant escapes the British trap and begins a perilous voyage across the Atlantic, chased by the ship-of-the-line, "Redoubtable." Pursuit and evasion, contact and battle continue to the Spanish coast and to Algiers -- where Paul Gallant steals the beautiful Abigail, favorite dancing girl of the Dey -- until the crew of the "Echo" is captured and imprisoned on Minorca.
Gallant must escape one more time . . . through the crossfire of a naval bombardment and the deadly roar of British cannon.

A former Director General of the Canadian War Museum, he has written seven adventure novels about the sea, as well as histories including "The War of 1812" and biographies of James Cook and de Bougainville.
