Tragic events force Hollywood screenwriter Griff Richardson to drive away to the birthplace of his grandfather, Laramie, Wyoming. Hoping to find a temporary hiding shelter from the journalists and reporters that are hounding him, Griff becomes every day more attached to this new place. The beauty of the wide open spaces, natural and untouched by humans, the friendliness of the neighbors and of his newly-found relatives, the pleasant morning rides in the company of his horse Bucky, all make him realize that there is a different way of life than his glamorous previous one in the movie world, a simpler, more convenient and suitable to him, way of life.

Norah Fuller moves with her uncle John Parker at his ranch to take care of him. Her uncle has been her rock ever since she was twelve and alone in the world. He has always cared and helped her the best he could. Now it is her turn to make sure he is not alone in his old age.

Their quiet life changes when Norah falls in love with a mysterious stranger, a man way out of her league, who is here only temporary and who will return soon to his life in Hollywood. Add to this the drama in Griff's own life and the killer who follows him here and life gets even more complicated.
