What happens when the girl next door is a sunshine, but you’re the grumpiest of grumps, and you have two metal legsalong with a big secret?

Berg Cyrano didn’t set out to deceive Roxanne Edmonds when she moved into the duplex beside him. He’d been dragged into sending fake emails and texts to people through his buddy’s company, Unreal Match, because his good friend Chris can make the phone calls for the job, but his writing skills are terrible. People actually paid good money for that—to have a fake boyfriend or girlfriend send them messages and call them.

When Roxie suggested she might need a boyfriend to put off a persistent coworker, Berg stupidly suggested she sign up with Unreal Match, without mentioning he worked there. Now, he’s fallen hard for her, but she doesn’t know he’s been deceiving her all this time.

Why is her fake boyfriend so intriguing in emails and texts, but just a funny friend during phone calls? It doesn’t matter because Roxie is determined to pull Berg out of his shell, even if it kills both of them, which it might. Her silent-but-sexy retired Marine didn’t get any of her blatant hints in the beginning, but Berg is really starting to come around. Of course, it feels like he’s keeping something from her. Maybe she’ll ask her fake boyfriend for advice on how to handle that...
