Sofia Parker must investigate a series of arson attacks to clear her own son’s name, all the while researching a connection between her cherished quilt and the Great Chicago Fire.

Jesse Norton is a city councilman, a small business owner, and a renowned grump—not to mention a thorn in the side of Sofia Parker and her family. When a fire during the local Founder's Day celebration destroys Norton's fitness gym, he accuses Sofia’s son Matthew of setting it. Sofia must discover who is behind the arson in order to clear her son's name.

At the same time, she is also pulled into the mystery of the ninth block of her grandmother's heirloom quilt, a silvery-pink square that seems to date back to Chicago in the mid-nineteenth century. Entries in the antique journal that accompanied the quilt cryptically refer to a could-be detective named Hannah Reed and the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.

As she tries to prove the origin of the ninth quilt block, Sofia also works to discover who the modern-day firebug is. If she doesn't, Matthew could be held responsible for a crime he didn't commit.

This charming story from Annie's Secrets of the Quilt mystery series is a must-read for fans of cozy mysteries, crafting, and female friendships.
