What Happens On The Float
(2026)(A book in the Bachelorettes of Bourbon St. series)
A novel by LizAnne Axtel
What happens on a float stays on a float
unless love crashes the parade.
Idetta
A bachelorette weekend during Mardi Gras was supposed to mean beads, booze, and questionable choices. Not arts and crafts and decorating a parade float. The tall, broody, and unfairly gorgeous designer thinks the float is his sacred mission, not a glitter covered mess. He calls me a distraction. I tell him he needs to unclench. Then something shifts. During late night French Quarter adventures and beignet runs our bickering changes. Something shifts. Suddenly the grumpy float designer looks exactly like the kind of deliciously bad choice I came here to make.
Joel
How I got talked into allowing a group of bachelorettes to assist with the final decorations on my latest Mardi Gras float is a mystery. Instead of duplicating my prize winning design, they’ve turned my ordered world upside down. Especially Idetta in her short dress and wicked smile. She’s loud, stubborn, irresistible and exactly what I shouldn’t want. The more I try to keep my distance, the more she pulls me in. Now we’re tangled in something that feels nothing like a fling.
Soon she’ll be heading home. My life will return to normal. What happened on the float stays on the float. So why does this feel like the start of something real?
