Since the Third Wizard War, the Unicorn Cavalry has protected Atrios from the undead armies streaming out of the Vortex. But unicorns are not immortal, and even the cavalry loses some battles, especially in blizzard conditions. Retreating across the snowy mountains with the enemy hot on their heels, a Unicorn Cavalry patrol comes to the walled village of Wolfnacht--hoping for a safe place to rest and recover. Unfortunately, the villagers don't much like outsiders, and they like interference in their affairs even less. They have their own plans to protect Wolfnacht from the enemy, and it doesn't involve "meddling" from the Unicorn Cavalry.
Festival at Wolfnacht is a Blue Kingdoms novella set in Atrios, a land protected by the famous Atrian Cavalries. This story features battles to death between the unicorn riders and their supernatural foes - zombies, werewolves, and things even worse. This is the first published story in the Unicorn Cavalry series. The story appeared previously in the book Zombies, Werewolves, & Unicorns.
