Tech expert Hollis Nachtmann is close to completing the first-ever ghosthunting app. All he needs is to study a few remaining entities, and survive another month with ExorSquad: the UK’s shadiest ghost-busting operation.
When a strategic land development group offers ExorSquad a tidy sum if they’ll exorcise whatever haunts Plot 47, Hollis has an opportunity to fill a gap in his database… The problem? He has to take new recruit, Theo Irving, with him.
The former country-bumpkin-turned-city-boy hasn’t completed basic training, let alone encountered a ghost. So when the incomplete building rattles and shakes, Theo’s mischievous grin is useless. When a menacing apparition manifests, his need to be the centre of attention is an unwanted complication. And, when a blast from his plasma ray kills Hollis outright, Theo’s spicy attitude can’t bring his mentor back to life.
As a technomancer, Hollis has to navigate not only electrical systems, but those constant little zaps firing between him and his murderer. To help Hollis ‘move on’, they’re forced to work together to solve the haunting, but when it turns more dangerous than anyone predicted, could Hollis become the spark that keeps Theo’s heart beating?
