Ezekiel, Zeke, Jarmon sends for a mail-order bride. He’s been alone too long, and there just aren’t any women in the Colorado gold fields. He’s taken enough gold out of the creek to live comfortably, but he needs a wife. He sent off for a mail-order bride.

Caroline Swenson should be here in a week, and he can’t wait. She’s a good decent Christian woman. Perfect for him and his plans to begin preaching in the area around the little gold town of Goldbe, Colorado Territory.

Madeline Carey, desperate to escape her uncle’s saloon, flees into the snowy night. Not knowing where she’s going, she stumbles into a wagon train of mail-order brides headed for Colorado. One of the brides had died, and her friends found Madeline and persuaded her to take the unfortunate woman’s place. Madeline agrees to take Caroline's identity and then hopes she can please the man waiting for her.
