For as long as I can remember, I’ve been missing something. Someone. Waiting.
I’ve tried to ignore it, tried to move on with my life. It finds me in my dreams. Another place, another time. A face I can’t quite remember. For a while, I almost forgot. I threw myself into a picture perfect life that never felt like mine. Now it’s all falling apart around me and all that's left is the void I tried to escape.
A walk in the forest uncovers a place that somehow feels like home. It doesn’t make any sense why this abandoned, crumbling cabin feels so familiar. I don’t know why I keep coming back. Especially with the phantom scent of stew and mint that haunts a decaying kitchen, the voices after dark calling a name I almost recognize, and a face in the mirror that isn’t my own. Then there are the eyes I feel watching me constantly. There’s a weight to it I try not to acknowledge.
The dreams are getting worse.
I’m starting to think they might be more than dreams…
