I never thought my life would change in just one small moment.

Caroline:
My life in Storyville was filled with the same routine every day: school drop offs, work at the florist shop, bedtime stories, repeat. As a single mom I had my hands full and my heart locked up tight. Until my car breaks down on the side of the road, and Cole, the older but devastatingly handsome mechanic stops to help.

He was all easy smiles, grease-stained hands the kind of guy who could fix anything, maybe even my bad luck. When my ex-shows up claiming he’s changed, and I needed a quick way to prove that I’ve moved on. Pretending to date Cole seemed easy. Until it didn’t feel like
pretending anymore.

Cole:
I love my life here in Storyville, always have and always will. I wasn’t looking for anything serious until I found Caroline and her daughter broken down on the side of the road.

She was fierce, protective and determined to stand on her own. I admired that. So when she asked me to play the part of her boyfriend I agreed. I thought this would be a piece of cake. But somewhere along the lines it’s become much more and I can’t seem to pretend any longer.

This novella is set in the same small town as Winter's Promise but can be read as a standalone.
What to expect: Age gap, single mom, small town, meddling towns people, he's protective
