Unable to have a child of their own, Meara and Jan Straka's dreams seemed to come true with the adoption of adorable five year old Timmy. But their happiness was shosrt lived when they discovered that Timmt, whom they deeply loved, was a hyperactive child. Armed with hard one and pitifully meager medical knowledge, as well as boundless love and compassion, the Strakas attempted to break through the barrier that separated Timmy from a normal life. It was a heroic task they set themselves, but Meara and Jan were determined to succeed in their labor of love, despite endless heartbreak and disappointment.
