Major Quatermain and the Pillar of Salt
(2028)(The fourth book in the Major Quatermain series)
A Story by K T Tomb
For four thousand years, she has stood in silence. Now someone has discovered how to set her free.
When a renowned archaeologist disappears while investigating a mysterious pillar of salt near the Dead Sea, Major Quatermain is drawn into an adventure that could rewrite one of the Bible’s most enduring stories.
According to scripture, Lot’s wife was turned into a pillar of salt after looking back at the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. But what if the story didn’t end there? What if she never truly died? What if, for thousands of years, she has remained conscious, imprisoned within the salt, waiting for someone to remember her name?
Major Quatermain and the beautiful, resourceful Contessa Bianca Valli soon discover they aren't the only ones searching for the legendary pillar. Soviet operatives, ruthless treasure hunters, and a secret society obsessed with conquering death are closing in, each determined to claim the ancient woman and the extraordinary powers she may possess.
But the truth is far more dangerous than anyone imagined.
Because Lot’s wife was no ordinary woman. She practiced an ancient form of magic long before Sodom was destroyed. And four thousand years of imprisonment have given her plenty of time to perfect it.
Now, as powerful enemies converge upon the Dead Sea, Major Quatermain must confront an impossible question: What happens when a woman punished by heaven finally walks free?
