Fighting off the advances of a pesky cat, Helen also faces the horrifying discovery of a dead body!

Recently widowed, Helen McPhee is unsure how to live without her beloved other half. After wallowing in bed, surviving on vodka and binge watching TV, she bravely embarks on a holiday her husband had planned for them both before he died.

Helen packs up her gear and travels to Europe to hike across a small country. This probably would be easier had she ever hiked a day in her life before.

On her journey, Helen encounters a strange man wrapped up in mystery and intrigue.

Arriving in a new village, she experiences a rather entertaining ordeal with Boris, owner of a backpacker’s inn.

In an amusing tale of murder, both past and present, Helen discovers her skills as an amateur sleuth brings her a sense of purpose, despite the occasional bumps along the trail.

What troubles Helen almost as much as the whodunnit is whether she’ll ever be able to love again. It pleasantly surprises her when she finds the answers to both.
