Kamau Brathwaite is well-respected among students of comparative literature mainly for his works which explore the African presence in the Caribbean, and in the world. Taken as a whole, his work is an interesting combination of physical and metaphysical concerns. What sets Brathwaite apart from other poets is his ability to intertwine his knowledge of geography and history with literature.
