A brand new Western adventure from Paul L. Thompson!

Sixteen-year-old Beverly O’Haire was walking on clouds after twenty-four-year-old Bradly Hedrick, who she thought was nineteen, asked her to marry him as soon as she graduated from high school.
‘Oh, yes, yes! This next year and a half will drag by, but we’ll have each other forever. After we’re married, will you still have to go on those long trips where you’re gone for days at a time?’
‘That’s my job for now but maybe I can find work closer to home within a year and a half. I leave again in the morning and will be gone a few days. When I get back, I’ll have you a present.’
‘Oh, Brad, you are so sweet. My mom will be thrilled when I tell her.''
That evening Bradly saddled his horse and rode west for miles up Red Willow Creek Canyon. When he came to a run down ranch house and leaning barn, nine horses stood out front, saddled.
Russell Knoble yelled, ‘Bout damn time you showed up, boy! You’s just about to be left behind. You know I need that baby face of yours to look that bank over before we try for it.’
‘I had to get done what you told me to do about Beverly O’Haire. That took time.’
‘She’ll do it, won’t she?’
‘Yeah, seemed all happy about it.’
‘Great, she’ll shor come in handy later on. We’ll shor nuff use her being as she’s the sheriff’s daughter.’
Back in town, Beverly was just telling her mom she would be married a year and a half from now. Her mother smiled and said, ‘Now that is a mighty smart boy, waiting until you get your education.’
