A brand new Western adventure from Paul L. Thompson!

Mrs Kay Lawson had her hand on U.S. Marshal Shorty Thompson’s left knee looking up into his eyes as he sat in the saddle of his big dun stud getting ready to ride.

Her eyes were filled with tears as she said, ‘You find him, Marshal. You bring my boy James back to me. When he went after Curtis Blackmon for stealing that little dun mare of his that is a spitting image of your stud here, only much smaller, James promised he’d only be gone a couple days. It’s been over ten now. If Curtis has hurt my boy in any way, you bring him back to me. Mister Curtis Blackmon will rue the day and he stole James’s mare and will surely know what hurt is before I’m through with him.’

‘What of your husband, ma’am? You said he’s been gone five days his self, lookin’.’

‘He has after we got that wire from James, but he’s a grown man and can take care of himself. I got that wire from him as he was about to leave Garden City headed for Pueblo. My boy James is only thirteen.’

‘It’ll take time, ma’am. The long trail always does. Never give up hope. I’ll find um both somehow.’
